Herstmonceux (UK) 2012 Core Professional Training on Humanitarian Law and Policy
The Core Trainings are conducted over three full days and serve as unique opportunities for acquisition and refinement of the skills necessary to address contemporary humanitarian challenges. Lectures, case studies, and simulation exercises are integrated into a curriculum narrative informed by legal principles, recent scholarship, contemporary challenges, and current debates. The trainings are tailored to professionals interested in gaining foundational knowledge, developing a strategic perspective, and engaging in exploratory discussions regarding potential responses to emerging legal and policy questions.
The August 2012 Core Training will be offered by PHAP in cooperation with the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University, hosted by the Bader International Study Center at the Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex (south of London).
Those attending the Core Training on Humanitarian Law and Policy in Herstmonceux in August 2012 are also encouraged to stay for the two-day Thematic Workshop on Human Rights in Armed Conflict. If you are interested in staying for the Thematic Workshop, please simply indicate such in your application to the Core Training - there is no need to apply separately for the two events.
Please note that, starting in the 2011 calendar year, all participants to Advanced Professional Trainings must be members in good standing of PHAP. (See Member Benefits and Dues.) There is no need, however, to apply separately for PHAP membership and for the trainings. Non-members may apply for trainings directly, and their applications will simultaneously be entered into the review process for PHAP membership.
How to apply for the Core Training (and optional Thematic Workshop):
Please use this external application form to apply for the training event.
If you are not yet a member of PHAP, your application for the training and your application for PHAP membership will also be processed simultaneously from the same form.
