Now available − Follow-up responses from the Operational Camp Management Webinar

Written responses to the follow-up questions by the guest experts now available after the PHAP and the Global CCCM Cluster webinar on the critical work of Camp Managers and the draft Camp Management Standards.

On 23 September, PHAP and the Global CCCM Cluster organized a webinar on the critical work of Camp Managers and the draft Camp Management Standards. This included experienced Camp Managers who have been involved in the standards development process and was an opportunity for practitioners worldwide to provide their input on the draft standards.

As there were more questions from participants than we had time for during the event (listen to these in the event recording), PHAP has reached out to guest experts Gebrehiwot Ewnetu, Global Emergency Specialist, Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and Jennifer Kvernmo, CCCM Capacity Building Coordinator, International Organization for Migration (IOM), together with Alisa Ananbeh, Information Management Officer with the Global CCCM Cluster Support Team, to answer your follow-up questions in writing.

The questions that you can now find responses to on the PHAP website covered a range of topics, including best practice for community engagement; the content as well as the implementation of the Camp Management Standards; how the Camp Management Standards relate to other standards; and CCCM's relationship to other actors and stakeholders. Among the participants asking questions, we had Yusuf in Tanzania, wondering whether the CCCM Cluster had “conducted any assessment and consultations in different contexts while drafting this Standard” as well as Jean in DRC asking “What is important to first of all pay attention to when setting up a camp to ensure a properly managed camp?”
