Technological change

Technology offers new ways of responding to humanitarian crisis (see Innovation). At the same time, changes in technology affect the contexts in which humanitarian work takes place, alter the needs of people and may even give rise to crisis itself. Humanitarians must therefore prepare themselves for the digitalization/automation of work, for the digital/cyber needs of crisis-affected people, to protect the increasingly individualized, magnetisable data in their possession, and perhaps even to respond to the consequences of cyber warfare.
