<p>Dario Carminati is currently the&nbsp;Special Advisor on Refugees, IDPS &amp; Migration at the <span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">International Institute for Humanitarian Law in San Remo, where he is&nbsp;responsible for courses and the organisation of round tables on the subject, as well as for the coordination of fund raising activities. In the past year, he has&nbsp;organised round tables in Belgrade, Pristina (protection of civilian in conflict and human trafficking); Rome and San Remo (forced migration from LA and in the Mediterranean area); Geneva (migrations, climate change and the Law); Baghdad &nbsp;as well as coordinated the publication of the works. He also collaborates regularly with GCSP and IOM on training of government officials on forced displacement issues in conflict areas.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">Prior to joining IIHL in 2010, Dario Carminati worked with UNHCR for over 28 years. He held various&nbsp;</span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px;">positions with UNHCR, mostly in conflict or post conflict situations (Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Chile, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Switzerland, Mozambique, Jordan, Yugoslavia, Zambia, RSA, Botswana, Namibia, DRC and Angola) where he dealt directly, or managing teams, on issues closely related to access to basic rights and the finding of Durable Solutions as Resettlement, Voluntary Repatriation or Local Integration. Throughout his career, Dario has&nbsp;been closely involved in the advocacy of the rule of Law creating strong links with all civil society actor, in particular concentrating on developing and advocating consistency and coordination among Governments, IOs and NGOs and aiming at balance legitimate security concerns with dialogue and understanding of the root causes of present day migratory flows including irregular and forced movements.He has acted as UNHCR&nbsp;Representative in 5 Countries, including in 2 flagship operations, and as Deputy Coordinator for the Special Operation in Former Yugoslavia during the war in Bosnia.</span></p>
