<p>Dr. Muhammad Munir is Associate Professor and Chairman Department of Law, at the International Islamic University, Islamabad and Visiting Professor at the University College of Islamabad. He holds a&nbsp;BA from the University of Peshawar, LLB and LLM from the International Islamic University, Islamabad,&nbsp;LLM in International law from Stockholm University, and PhD from the University of Karachi. He has done many certificate and diploma courses in International humanitarian law, International Refugee law, International trade law, internet law, etc. He has widely published on a variety of topics in national as well as international journals. His areas of interest include&nbsp;jurisprudence, Islamic law, Islamic international law, Muslim Personal Law, Pakistani legal system, and Legal History. He has been awarded &#39;Best University Teacher Award&#39; for the year 2003 and &#39;Outstanding Research Paper Award&#39; by the Higher Education Commission of the government of Pakistan two times: first in 2009 for his article on &#39;Stipulations in a Muslim Marriage Contract with Special Reference to Talaq al-Tafwid Provisions in Pakistani Law&quot;, published in the Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law, vol. 12 (2005-2006), and then in 2011 for his work on &quot;Suicide Attacks and Islamic Law&quot;, published in The International Review of the Red Cross, vol. 90, no. 869 (March 2008).</p>

<p>Dr Muhammad Munir has designed and&nbsp;launched seven post-graduate programmes in his faculty&ndash; four LLMs (LLM in Internationl Law; LLM in Corporate Law; and LLM in International Trade Law and LLM/M.S. Human Rights Law) and three Post Graduate Diplomas. Every year over 70 students register in these programmes. Over 350 students have successfully completed their dissertations and many more are in progress. In particular, the LLM programme in International Law has attracted tremendous reputation in Pakistan as this is the first time that a specialized LLM programme is offered by any Law faculty in Pakistan. Dr Muhammad Munir has also been involved as a consultant with the International Committee of the Red Cross since June 2007 for disseminating the Islamic jus in bello amongst religious circles.</p>

<p>Dr. Munir has presented his papers on many topics in Asia, Europe, and Africa. He has attended many conferences, seminars, workshops in and outside the country. His most recent presentations have dealt with &ldquo;The Protection of Prisoners of War in Islam&rdquo; (ICRC and the University of Karachi from 28-30 May 2013), &ldquo;The Concept of Jihad in Islam&rdquo; (42nd PN Staff Course at the Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore on 23 May, 2013) and &ldquo;Compatibility between IHL and Islamic Law&rdquo; (Conference on IHL and Islamic Jurisprudence at the International Islamic University Chittagong, Bangladesh on 10 December 2012).</p>

<p>His forthcoming books include: &#39;Precedent in Pakistani Law&#39;, &#39;The Law of War and Peace in Islam&#39;, and &#39;Muslim Personal Law: Classical Islamic Law and Statutory Laws of Muslim States&#39;.</p>
