Stuart Maslen is an academic specialising on the use of force under international law. He is Honorary Professor at the University of Pretoria and holds a PhD in international humanitarian law, a master’s degree in international human rights law, and a master’s degree in forensic ballistics. He is co-author of a legal commentary on the Arms Trade Treaty, published by Oxford University Press in June 2016, and editor of Weapons under International Human Rights Law, published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. He has just completed a manuscript on police use of force under international law and is writing a book on the conduct of hostilities under the law of armed conflict.
