<p><span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: normal;">Michael Bonser is currently the Minister Counsellor and Political Coordinator at Canada&rsquo;s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.&nbsp; Prior to this, Michael served as the Director of the Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Response Group at DFATD (2009-2013) &nbsp;Michael has served in a variety of policy advisor positions within the Department&rsquo;s International Security Branch, including Executive Assistant to the Assistant Deputy Minister, senior advisor Canada-US Defence Relations and senior advisor Humanitarian Affairs. Prior to joining the Department in 1999, Michael served as a Chief of Staff to two different Members of Parliament from 1992-97 and subsequently worked in the non-profit sector in the field of human rights advocacy and protection, including with the Bangladesh Institute of Human Rights in 1998-99. Michael holds a Master&rsquo;s Degree in International Relations (Acadia University) and an Honours B.A. in History and Political Studies (Queen&rsquo;s University). He has published several articles on humanitarian intervention and peacebuilding.</span></p>
