<p>Liesbeth Schockaert is Associate Legal Officer at UNHCR&#39;s Regional Representation for Western Europe in Brussels.&nbsp;As a member of the Protection Unit she is amongst others in charge of reception and detention policies of asylum-seekers and integration of recognised refugees, with a specific focus on family reunification. This includes both policy work as providing legal advice in individual cases.</p>

<p>Her previous experiences included working as a humanitarian advisor in the Analysis and Advocacy Unit at M&eacute;decins Sans Fronti&egrave;res at its headquarters in Brussels. She has broad field experience in refugee and displacement settings including in the Balkans, the Caucasus, SOuthern Europe (Spain, Italy and Malta), West Africa, Southern Sudan, Chad, Kenya, Indonesia, Egypt, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Colombia.</p>

<p>She served as a legal counsel and trainer for refugee law and international humanitarian law within MSF and has been a tutor for three consecutive years during the Summer School on Forced Migration at the University of Oxford.</p>

<p>She has a law degree from Ghent University and an MSc in European and International Politics from the University of Edinburgh.</p>

<p>She is fluent in Dutch, French, English and Spanish.</p>
