Following more than two years of preparations, the World Humanitarian Summit is taking place next week in Istanbul, 23-24 May. PHAP members from all over the world will be involved in a variety of ways, both independently and on behalf of their organizations – participating in high-level sessions, side events, the expo, and the innovation fair.

As a global professional association, PHAP has been invited to take part in the high-level round tables and special sessions, where it will be represented by its Executive Director, Angharad Laing. The aim of this participation is to continue ensuring that humanitarian practitioner voices are heard in the process, building on PHAP’s more than 30 consultation events in the lead-up to the Summit in Istanbul, which engaged thousands of practitioner stakeholders around the world, with a majority based in the Global South.

At the same time, 22-24 June, PHAP will have a stand in the WHS expo supported by secretariat staff and the generous support of member volunteers. We will be speaking to members and other stakeholders about the association and PHAP’s new strategic framework that has been developed over the past months. To help amplify member practitioner voices and help bring clarity to this process for those unable to participate onsite, we will be carrying out interviews in our expo booth and publish them online. If you will be in Istanbul – let us know via email and stop by our booth starting on Sunday.
